How much will I earn as a Bigstock contributor?
Your earnings, per download, are based on the customer’s selection of payment plan and the size of the file that was downloaded. For purchases made using credits, we pay $0.50 USD for each credit spent. For Bigstock Partner sales, contributors receive 30% of the amount received by Bigstock per partner sale. Here is a detailed breakdown of how much you will earn with each type of purchase (all values in USD):

                                Credits           Bigstock Partner
Small                         $0.50                       30%
Medium                     $1.00                       30%
Large                         $2.00                       30%
X-Large                     $3.00                       30%
Vector                        $3.00                       30%
Extended License   $25.00                        n/a

For subscription plans you will earn a royalty every time one of your images is downloaded.
We’ll count any Bigstock download to determine which royalty tier is applied, including credit and subscription downloads.
The more downloads you’ve had in the previous 12 months, the higher your royalty will be.  You can earn up to $0.38 USD per download!

 * Customers on any of our Partner sites are not allowed to use a Bigstock image for a project that falls under the terms of an Extended License.

Here are a few answers to frequently asked questions about the tier structure:
  • The 'Number of Downloads in Previous 12 Months' is calculated on the last day of each month.
  • Because our system needs this whole day to process the data, it will only factor in downloads made up until the previous day.
  • Downloads made on the last day of every month are factored into the following month.
  • Changes in royalty tier rates begin on the first day of the month.

When will I get paid?
You can make a request for payment at any time once your commissions have reached $30.00.
Payment requests are processed once a week, usually on Mondays. The cutoff time to make your request is at 11:59:59 EST on the Sunday before, as long as your earnings for that time period have reached the minimum payout amount of $30.00.
Once a request for payment has been processed, your Payable Earnings will be re-set to zero. You will need to accrue the minimum payout amount of $30.00 again before you can make your next request.

How do I request my earnings?
On the main page under 'Commissions' in your account, you will see the 'Payment Preferences' area.
Once you have earned more than $30 in commissions, you will see options that allow you to request payout of your commissions via PayPal, MoneyBookers/Skrill, or by U.S. Check.
Select (or edit) the payment email address for electronic payments to be sent to an existing verified PayPal or MoneyBookers/Skrill account by clicking on the button next to your choice. Then, simply click the 'Request Commissions' button and your request will be sent to us.
If you choose to receive your commissions in the form of a check, your Tax Profile must be in our system and Approved. The Tax Profile is basic information including your name and address, so, if you do not have an approved tax profile on record, the check cannot be sent. Go to our Tax Center to set up your Tax Profile.

What payment methods do you offer for receiving commissions?
When you make a request to receive your earned commissions, your options are by electronic transfer or by a U.S. check that will be sent via the postal service. These options are located under 'Payment Preferences' on the main Commissions section in your account. The benefits of receiving electronic payments include receiving a secure payment faster and with easier payment tracking should a problem occur. You can make a request for payment of your commissions using either method once your payable earnings have reached $30.00.

Electronic Transfer to PayPal: You will need to establish a PayPal account that is verified, active, and able to receive U.S. funds before you request your Bigstock commissions.
Visit their website: https://www.paypal.com/
 * PayPal may not be available in all countries, so please check their website to see if you are eligible to receive payments from a U.S. company.

Electronic Transfer to Moneybookers/Skrill: You will need to establish a MoneyBookers/Skrill account that is verified, active, and able to receive U.S. funds before you request your Bigstock commissions.
Visit their website: https://www.skrill.com/
 * Moneybookers/Skrill may not be available in all countries, so please check their website to see if you are eligible to receive payments from a U.S. company.

 * At this time, Bigstock does not offer payment service via Payoneer.

Postal Check
A check can only be issued to the name and mailing address as it is listed in your Tax Profile . Go to our Tax Center to set up your profile with this basic information. The process for receiving your commissions via check also begins every Monday. However, the actual day the check is mailed can vary and the time it takes to reach you cannot be determined. We ask that you allow at least 2 months before you contact us if you have not received your check.

How do I change my payment method?
Not a problem! Each transaction is separate - you choose the method that we pay you each time you request your commissions.
Simply go to the 'Payment Preferences' area under 'Commissions' in your account. Select the new method of payment by clicking on the button next to your choice. Then, click the 'Request Commissions' button and your request will be sent to us.

Please be sure that you have existing accounts set up for electronic payments that are verified, active, and able to receive U.S. funds before you request your Bigstock commissions.
If you are requesting payment in the form of a check, be sure that your name and mailing address is on record and up-to-date in your Tax Profile.

Why was money taken out of my earnings?
There are two possible reasons: Content was returned by a customer and their purchase was refunded, or, if you are not based in the US, taxes may have been deducted. Under U.S. law we are required to withhold up to 30% of your earnings from US based downloads if you have not filled out the appropriate tax forms. To learn more, visit our Tax Center for additional information.

Why have my earnings been reduced to zero?
That means we processed your payment request! Your ‘Payable Earnings’ are reset to zero to start a new earnings period. Your overall total earnings or ‘Account Balance’ will be reflected in your payment history once processing has finished. The Commissions overview page, Payment History, Image Earnings, and Tax Center are all areas located under the Commissions section of your account where you can see the financial activity for your account.

What is the minimum earnings payment amount I can receive?
Unfortunately, our payment system is automated and cannot be altered for individual requests. Only once a contributor has earned more than $30 in commissions that have cleared any wait period, will the options that allow requests for payout appear for PayPal, MoneyBookers/Skrill, or by U.S. Check.

When will the earnings from a recent image sale show up as 'Payable Earnings'?
To prevent fraud, Bigstock imposes a waiting period of 7 days on image sales before that earned commission is available as 'Payable Earnings'. You can see when each download was made on the 'Image Earnings' page in the Commission's area of your account.

When can I request my earnings if I am a U.S. contributor?
Before a contributor is able to request commissions, Bigstock is required by the United States Government to determine your tax withholding status through the submission of a Tax Form.

* You will not be able to request earnings until you submit and we approve your Tax Form, available in the Tax Center under the ‘Commissions’ category in your Bigstock account.

How do I convert my commissions into credits?
We no longer convert commissions into credits. The current options for receiving commissions earnings are by electronic transfer to a PayPal or MoneyBookers/Skrill account previously established prior to requesting payment that is able to receive US funds or by U.S. Check.

These options will appear on the Commissions page of your Bigstock account once you have earned more than $30 in commissions.

Why haven't I received my commissions check?
The actual day the check is mailed can vary and the time it takes to reach you via the postal system cannot be determined. We ask that contributors allow at least 2 months before contacting Bigstock when they have not received their check.

How do I submit my Tax Profile and Tax Forms?
...It's a two step process
Important tax Information: Before paying commissions to contributors, we are required by the United States Government to determine your tax withholding status.

In order to submit your Tax Profile (basic contact information) and subsequently the appropriate Tax Form, here are the steps you should take:

From your Bigstock account:
- Click the 'My Account' tab at the top of the screen
- Click the 'Commissions' category on the left-side of the page and then on the Tax Profile link to fill out the basic contact information. You will receive an email confirmation once the Tax Profile has been Approved.

Once you receive that email, use the link provided in the confirmation email or, go back to the 'Commissions' category on the left-side of the account page and click the Tax Center link and fill out the appropriate Tax Form.

* U.S. based Contributors:: You will not be able to request earnings until both of these forms are completed.
* NON-U.S. based Contributors:: If a Tax Form is not provided, there will be a 30% withholding rate applied to your payment(s) on all U.S.based downloads.

What can I do to improve earnings?
Contributor earnings vary based on the type of content and how many images a contributor submits.
Customers look for images with the following qualities:
-Relevant, interesting and creative subject matter.
-Strong technical quality.
-Compliance with our legal requirements, including copyrights and model releases.
-Appropriate keywords that best describe the image to help customers find your images.

Submitting content often, even in small groups helps keep your portfolio fresh and new images appearing in search by latest results.
Both locally relevant content that depicts a specific culture that is authentic, as well as, generic content that will appeal to a larger customer base are highly marketable.

Which tools are available for me to analyze download statistics for my images?
There are two places you can find download statistics for images in your portfolio - the 'Image Earnings' page and the 'Image Statistics' page. Both are located under the Commissions section in your account.

Information located under 'Image Earnings' highlights your earnings. A list of each of these images and the precise time of each download is shown.
